Brave Box is a youth led nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing comfort, hope, and encouragement to children and young adults receiving medical care.

Our mission began with our founder, Monika Shaffer, who was hospitalized with pneumonia at eight years old. During her stay, she experienced firsthand how frightening and isolating hospitalization can be, but she also discovered the incredible impact that small acts of kindness can have during difficult times. Inspired by those experiences, she created Brave Box to ensure that every child facing a medical journey feels seen, supported, and never alone.

Today, we assemble and donate thoughtfully curated care packages filled with new, hospital approved toys, books, games, crafts, and comforting items tailored to different age groups. Each Brave Box serves as a reminder that an entire community is standing behind every patient with compassion and encouragement.

Through partnerships with hospitals, volunteers, donors, and community organizations, we strive to create moments of joy, provide positive distractions from treatment, and help children find comfort, confidence, and hope during their healing journey.

Every box we deliver represents our commitment to making a meaningful difference in a child's life.
